About The Position

The Meat Clerk provides friendly, courteous service to customers and performs meat department tasks. Responsibilities include preparing and stocking products, maintaining the meat cases and work area, following safety and sanitation guidelines, and helping customers with cooking instructions. Store-level training will be provided. This posting is not an official job description, and duties may include other assignments at store management’s discretion.

Requirements

Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Able to bend and stoop.
Able to work in a cold, wet environment.
Able to lift up to 75 pounds.
Able to work on their feet for the entire shift, stated as 4–8 hours.

Nice To Haves

For store or facility teammates, a minimum of six months of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
For Store Support Center teammates, a minimum of one year of employment with Schnucks is preferred.
Internal candidates must be in good standing, not on a performance improvement plan or active discipline.
Internal candidates invited to interview must have manager approval based on performance.

Responsibilities

Provide friendly and courteous service to customers.
Maintain regular, reliable attendance.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area, equipment, and meat cases in accordance with company safety and sanitation guidelines.
Wrap, label, and price products.
Prepare products for the service meat case.
Use suggestive selling and product sampling.
Receive products from the warehouse.
Stock, straighten, and rotate products in meat cases and coolers.
Read and understand shelf tags.
Follow company safety guidelines when using equipment.
Provide customers with proper cooking instructions.
Check and maintain proper temperature controls for coolers, freezers, and the cutting room.
At closing, pull products from the service meat case for proper storage.
Perform other duties as assigned at the discretion of store management.
