About The Position

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Career and Technical Education (OCTE), is hiring a Masonry Instructor at the Northern Kentucky Youth Development Center in Crittenden, Kentucky. OCTE operates Area Technology Centers that provide state-approved Career and Technical Education pathways and prepare students for careers in partnership with business and industry. This position offers the opportunity to teach in a dynamic, challenging, student-focused environment and help students become prepared for postsecondary education and careers. The instructor teaches occupational preparatory classes within a career and technical education program and performs other duties as required. The selected applicant becomes a member of the Kentucky Teachers’ Retirement System. Applicants and employees may be required to undergo drug screening and a background check. Applicants under contract with a local school district must provide a written release from their superintendent before an offer can be extended. The KDE participates in E-Verify.

Requirements

Must hold a Rank III Kentucky teaching certificate in the subject area to be taught, or a Kentucky Statement of Eligibility in the subject area, or have four years of appropriate work experience, including two years within the last five years.
Must be able to acquire the personal national certifications applicable to the program area (A+Cert, NCCER, ABC, AGC, ASE). The applicant may be hired without the required personal certifications but must obtain the needed certification at the next available testing period.
