About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker-Grader for the GEOG 2P08 Winter D3 course. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for Marker-Grader positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed an Honours Degree in Physical Geography or equivalent.
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Physical Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Physical Geography courses completed (or equivalent).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
  • Knowledge and past course experience in climatology.
  • Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act.
  • It is the responsibility of the member to accept only as many appointments (i.e. hours of work) as will allow them to successfully complete the duties assigned for each appointment.

Nice To Haves

  • If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours program (completed 13 or more credits) in Physical Geography or equivalent will be considered.
  • Equivalency will be determined by the course instructor. Applicant must make a case that their qualifications are equivalent to those required above.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • Potentially invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course.
  • Potentially enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
