About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for a Marker-Grader for the GEOG 2P14 - Geographies of Alcohol Production in Niagara course. The position is paid according to the qualifications of the employee, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The marker-grader is expected to mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams and provide written feedback to students. They may also be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases at the request of the course instructor. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in or have completed a postgraduate degree or have completed a Honours Degree in Geography or equivalent.
  • If vacancies remain, students enrolled in an Honours Program (completed 13 or more credits) in Geography or equivalent will be considered.
  • Completion of 4 full credits in Geography with an overall average of 75% or higher in all Geography courses completed (or equivalent).
  • Completion of the course for which the applicant wishes to be a teaching assistant with a final grade of 75% or higher in that course (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated successful undergraduate teaching experience or equivalent small group leadership in an undergraduate context.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet stipulated deadlines.
  • Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • May be expected to invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course.
  • May be expected to enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
