About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker-Grader for the PSYC 4P71 Psychology of Prejudice and Discrimination course for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The role involves marking assignments and makeup exams, providing written feedback to students, and potentially invigilating mid-terms and examinations, as well as entering grades into databases. The compensation is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026, ranging from $19.00/hour for First Year Complete to $36.00/hour for Master's Degree Complete. The position is governed by the Collective Agreement and is subject to course enrollments and budgetary approval. Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Previous successful experience as a TA in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments and makeup exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned.
  • Potentially invigilate mid-terms and examinations for this course.
  • Potentially enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
  • Maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.
