About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker-Grader for the PSYC 4P15 Close Relationships course for the Fall D2 term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation for Marker-Grader positions is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The number of hours assigned will vary by department and course, with the total stipend depending on course enrollment, calculated as 3 hours multiplied by the number of registered students. Duties include marking essays and/or assignments, and availability at the end of the term is required for timely marking. Requirements

  • Must have completed or be enrolled in PSYC 5Y51/52/61/62/71/72 or PSYC 7Y51/52/53/61/62/63/71/72/73, or 5F01, within the previous five years; OR Minimum 3rd Year complete and currently enrolled in a PSYC BA or BSc program, with an average of at least 80; and have taken this course within the previous five years, and achieved a grade of at least 80.
  • Previous successful experience as a TA in this course in an academic setting will be considered as equivalent.
  • Must demonstrate a clear and thorough understanding of all aspects of the course to clearly explain all course topics.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills and a thorough understanding of APA writing style.
  • Must have excellent oral communication skills.
  • Must have the interpersonal qualities to be supportive of students and effective in leading group discussion.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to keep accurate records/manage data.
  • Must have excellent time management skills in order to cover the required course material during the available seminar/lab or tutorial time.
  • Must be adept at providing feedback to students in a constructive manner.
  • Must be able to and willing to present material/conduct seminars remotely.
  • Must be able and willing to maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings and to conduct seminars and office hours via audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Marking essays and/or assignments.
  • Availability at the end of term is required to mark papers within a constrained turn-around time.
  • Presenting material/conduct seminars remotely.
  • Maintain contact with the instructor, fellow teaching assistants and enrolled students by email and by audio-video conferencing and/or in-person meetings.
