About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Marker-Grader for the CHYS 3P27 Fall D2 - Policies of Childhood and Youth: Canadian Perspectives course. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation is based on the employee's qualifications, with rates effective September 1, 2026. The role involves marking assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams, and providing written feedback to students. The marker-grader may also be asked to invigilate mid-terms and examinations or enter grades into databases.

Requirements

  • Minimum 4th Year complete in the CHYS BA or CHYS BA/BEd program, or be entering and/or continuing in the CHYS MA or CHYS PhD program.
  • Must have previously completed CHYS 3P27 or equivalent, and obtained 80% or higher.
  • Evidence of communication skills (i.e., letter of reference attesting to communication skills as a student in seminar or evaluation of successful previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or Marker-Grader).
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Applicant's responsibility to identify the course for consideration of equivalency. For courses taken at Brock, identify the course (i.e., XXXX 3P00). For courses taken elsewhere provide a copy of your transcript, highlight the course and provide the course description.
  • Failure to provide the required documentation to support the request for consideration of equivalency will result in an incomplete application.

  • Previous successful experience as a Marker-Grader for CHYS 3P27 will be considered as equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Mark assignments, term projects, case reports, midterms, progress exams, and/or final exams.
  • Provide written feedback to students that clearly identifies the basis of the grade assigned, including substantive content, written communications, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and overall structure and organization.
  • Invigilate mid-terms and examinations for the course, at the request of the course instructor.
  • Enter grades into databases, at the request of the course instructor.
