About The Position

The Manager, Safety, Training and Compliance oversees hub safety and security compliance, with a focus on reducing damage, employee injuries, and TSA and CBP violations through initiatives, training programs, and station corrective action plans. The role maintains management oversight and control of airport operations to improve performance standards and service for American Airlines. It oversees hub safety and security, coordinates with Envoy Safety, Security, and Environmental teams on safety and regulatory affairs, and supports station environmental and dangerous goods needs. The manager conducts safety risk assessments, OSHA and security audits, de-ice audits, and investigations into safety, security, damage, injury, and accident concerns. The role organizes safety committees, supports effective use of the Envoy electronic observation system (EOBS), delivers safety and security presentations, maintains current safety and security education, and works with business partners and vendors to support a healthy safety and security environment. The position has one direct report, the Coordinator of Safety, and performs other duties as assigned by the Hub VP. Salary range: $65,000–$78,000.

Requirements

Minimum age of 18.
College degree or equivalent amount of work experience.
Previous supervisory experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Airport operations experience.
Knowledge of airline safety policies and procedures.
Prior experience dealing with safety and OSHA audits.
Experience conducting investigations, compiling data, and reporting data in presentation formats.
Experience with training development and delivery.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Proven work experience building constructive and effective relationships.
Legal right to work in the United States.
Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English.
May be required to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and work collaboratively across functional departments.

Responsibilities

Oversee hub safety and security compliance and seek to reduce damage, employee injuries, and TSA and CBP violations through initiatives, training programs, and station corrective action plans.
Maintain management oversight and control of airport operations to improve and maintain performance standards and service for American Airlines.
Oversee safety and security at the hub.
Coordinate with Envoy Safety, Security, and Environmental on safety and regulatory affairs.
Understand and perform the Safety Risk Assessment of the hub.
Conduct safety and OSHA audits.
Support station environmental and dangerous goods needs.
Ensure effective use of the Envoy electronic observation system (EOBS).
Organize safety committees.
Conduct investigations into safety and security concerns.
Conduct security audits and de-ice audits.
Conduct damage, injury, and accident calls in accordance with the Envoy Safety manual.
Conduct damage, injury, and accident investigations and complete the required Board of Inquiry in accordance with the Envoy Safety manual.
Conduct safety and security presentations and maintain current safety and security education.
Work jointly with business partners and vendors to support a healthy safety and security environment.
Oversee safety and security compliance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Hub VP.
Supervise the Coordinator of Safety as one direct report.
