Manager, Safety & Security
About The Position
The Manager, Safety & Security manages center safety, security, and fire protection, and serves as a liaison with law enforcement and other support agencies, in compliance with government and management directives. The role is at the New Orleans Job Corps Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, and is scheduled full time, with 8-hour shifts Monday through Friday. The manager oversees the department’s administrative, safety, and security activities; supports staff development and performance management; reviews assigned areas for contractual compliance and effective service delivery; prepares reports; schedules security officers to maintain adequate protection; and conducts periodic inspections to identify deficiencies and recommend changes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in safety or industrial hygiene, or a degree in another related field supplemented by at least 24 semester hours in safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, biological sciences, or closely related disciplines.
- Experience managing safety and health programs, conducting safety inspections and job hazard analyses, and working with occupational health and environmental regulations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Experience with youth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and manage the department’s administrative, safety, and security activities.
- Serve as liaison between the center and the immediate community on security and law-enforcement matters.
- Provide staff training, evaluate staff performance, and recommend personnel changes.
- Regularly review and audit assigned areas for contractual compliance and effectiveness of services delivered to students.
- Prepare related reports.
- Plan and schedule security officers to maintain adequate security protection at all times.
- Conduct periodic inspections of safety and security officers or operations to identify deficiencies and recommend changes.
