About The Position

The Maintenance Service Technician – Handyman repairs common service problems associated with manufactured housing and helps maintain a successful model home center. The role provides customer service by responding promptly to service calls and completing repairs thoroughly and on time. Duties include general property maintenance, completing service requests, preventative care for HVAC and other systems, and repairing exterior and roof damage. The position requires a reliable, organized, customer-focused team member with varied handyman skills. The technician must be able to perform strenuous physical tasks, work in different weather conditions, and safely climb ladders. Clayton offers an hourly wage starting at $24.00, or higher depending on experience, along with benefits and professional development and advancement opportunities. Home Centers are closed on Sundays.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Numerous and varied handyman skills.
Reliable, dependable, and friendly, with a solid work ethic and pride in work.

Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to a high level of customer satisfaction and strong customer relations skills.
Hand-eye coordination and physical strength; ability to stoop, bend, lift, and climb.
Ability to lift and move items such as furniture, wallboard, and water heaters weighing up to 100 lbs.
Endurance to perform strenuous tasks.
Ability to safely climb ladders.
Ability to work in all environments, including extreme heat or cold, rain, and snow.
Ability to excel in and contribute to a team environment; cooperative and collaborative approach.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and post-offer drug screen.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance to maintain property appearance and condition.
Complete service requests.
Perform preventative care on HVAC and other systems.
Repair exterior and roof damage.
Respond promptly to service calls and complete repairs thoroughly and in a timely manner.
Assist with miscellaneous duties as required.
