About The Position

We are seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for a Medical Surgical unit. This is a 13-week contract position requiring 4x12 night shifts (1900-0700). The unit is a complex care unit for Medicine, ortho overflow, and complex long-term patients. The LPN will be expected to take their own patient assignments with RN support. Experience with EPIC charting is required. This position requires flexibility as floating within skillset will be necessary. Locals are accepted at a reduced rate.

Requirements

• Active New York Single State LPN license
• BLS certification
• EPIC experience required
• Acute Care experience within the last 2 years
• Must be able to take own patient assignment, with the support of an RN

Responsibilities

• Take own patient assignment with RN support
• Perform charting in EPIC
• Administer blood products
• Provide central line care/management
• Provide peripheral line care/management
• Perform phlebotomy
• Manage PICC lines
• Start and maintain IVs
• Administer High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Administer Nasal Cannula oxygen
• Administer oxygen via oxygen tanks
• Provide Trach care/management
• Provide feeding tube care/management
• Administer Heparin Protocols
• Monitor patients with Pacemakers/Temp/Perm
• Monitor telemetry on the unit
• Utilize Rapid Response/Code teams
• Implement Isolation Precautions
• Perform Wound Care/Wound Vac
• Manage patients with MS/Tele conditions
• Care for Ortho trauma patients
• Care for Total Joint Replacement patients
• Manage Surgical drains
• Float within skillset as needed
• Be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Be available to work every other weekend
