About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs. The role works with Store Management and store Associates to support shrink reduction, identify and resolve internal and external theft, and promote a safe environment. Responsibilities include observing, deterring, and apprehending suspected theft in accordance with established policies and guidelines; conducting investigations and surveillance as assigned; and maintaining appropriate evidence and paperwork. The detective may participate professionally in legal activities, such as police calls, as needed, and provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.

The role promotes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality; supports store shrink-reduction goals and resources; and adheres to labor laws, policies, and procedures. The position requires sound judgment, communication and investigative skills, basic computer and time-management skills, effective collaboration, and flexibility to support business needs. The job is located at Marshalls Store 0565 in Clifton Park, New York, and offers a starting pay range of $16.00 to $20.40 per hour. Actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
• Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
• Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
• Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
• Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
• Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
• Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
• Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
• Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
• Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
• Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
• Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
• Maintain appropriate evidence, demonstrate understanding of law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
• Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
• Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
• Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
• Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
• Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
