Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. The detective supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position provides timely, courteous, and knowledgeable customer service and promotes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. It includes participating in investigations and surveillance as assigned, completing and distributing accurate paperwork, maintaining appropriate evidence, and professionally participating in legal activities as needed. The role coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and follows labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Requirements

- 0–2 years of retail or security experience.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
- Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management and communicate with Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
