Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role conducts apprehensions within established policies and guidelines, communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, and identifies and resolves internal and external theft. It supports store shrink-reduction goals, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position provides courteous, knowledgeable customer service and promotes honesty, integrity, and confidentiality. It also participates in investigations and surveillance, handles evidence and related paperwork, and participates professionally in legal activities as needed.

Responsibilities
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote a culture of honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management and communicate with Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
