About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks related to store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and addresses internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies, supports shrink-reduction goals, and promotes a safe store environment. The detective also provides courteous, knowledgeable customer service and communicates with Associates about damage and shrink initiatives. Responsibilities include observing and deterring dishonest acts, participating in investigations and surveillance as assigned, completing accurate and timely paperwork, and maintaining appropriate evidence. The role requires understanding law enforcement procedures and professional participation in legal activities as needed, such as police calls. The detective coordinates shrink-related activities with Store Management, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and follows labor laws, policies, and procedures. The position is at TJ Maxx Store 1064 in Redondo Beach, California. The starting pay range is $16.90 to $20.40 per hour; actual starting pay depends on relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Communicate with Store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
Follow established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter dishonest acts from outside sources.
Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Coordinate shrink-related activities with Store Management.
Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support a safe environment.
