About The Position

The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily store loss prevention and safety tasks, maintains positive relationships with Store Management, and conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines. The role communicates with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives, identifies and resolves internal and external theft, and supports the store’s shrink reduction and safety programs. The position requires providing courteous, knowledgeable customer service; maintaining confidentiality and promoting honesty and integrity; participating in assigned investigations and surveillance; completing accurate and timely paperwork; and maintaining appropriate evidence. The Detective demonstrates an understanding of law enforcement procedures and participates professionally in related legal activities as needed. The role partners with Store Management on shrink-related work, encourages Associates to use shrink-reduction resources, and follows applicable labor laws, policies, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Complete daily tasks required for Store Loss Prevention and safety programs.
Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
Conduct apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
Communicate with store Associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
Identify and resolve internal and external theft.
Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
Follow all labor laws, policies, and procedures.
Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
Encourage Associate use of shrink-reduction resources.
Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
