Loss Prevention Detective
About The Position
The Loss Prevention Detective completes daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs while maintaining positive relationships with Store Management. The role identifies and resolves internal and external theft, conducts apprehensions in accordance with established policies and guidelines, and communicates with store associates about damage and shrink initiatives. It also supports store shrink-reduction goals and programs, promotes safety awareness, and helps maintain a safe environment. The position requires courteous, knowledgeable customer service; sound judgment; investigative and analytical skills; basic computer and time-management skills; and the ability to adapt to changing directions or unexpected situations. The detective works effectively with peers and supervisors and must be able to work a flexible schedule to support business needs. TJX lists 0–2 years of retail or security experience.

Responsibilities
- Complete daily tasks required for store loss prevention and safety programs.
- Maintain positive relationships with Store Management.
- Conduct apprehensions within established policies and guidelines.
- Communicate with store associates about damage and shrink initiatives.
- Adhere to established shoplifter guidelines and policies.
- Provide timely, courteous, and knowledgeable service to customers.
- Promote honesty and integrity and maintain confidentiality.
- Observe, apprehend, and/or deter acts of dishonesty from outside sources.
- Participate in investigations and surveillance as assigned.
- Ensure apprehensions are consistent with store theft activity.
- Complete and distribute paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Maintain appropriate evidence, understand law enforcement procedures, and participate professionally in legal activities as needed, such as police calls.
- Coordinate and complete shrink-related activities in partnership with Store Management.
- Adhere to labor laws, policies, and procedures.
- Support and participate in store shrink-reduction goals and programs.
- Encourage associates to use shrink-reduction resources.
- Promote safety awareness and support maintenance of a safe environment.
