About The Position

The YMCA of the North Shore is hiring Lifeguards for its pools across the North Shore, including the LynchVan Otterloo YMCA in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Lifeguards help maintain a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable environment for members and program participants. Qualified applicants who are not yet certified may be eligible for free lifeguard certification training before starting. The position offers varied shifts, including early mornings, daytime, evenings, and weekends, and is part-time.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Current certifications in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration, or willingness to obtain them before starting.
• Calm, confident presence with strong attention to safety and detail.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Availability for both weekday and weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

• Prior certifications and experience may qualify candidates for higher pay.
• Strong swimming ability for candidates who are not yet certified.

Responsibilities

• Actively monitor swimmers to help keep the pools safe.
• Respond when needed to swimmer or pool safety situations.
• Create a welcoming, positive experience for members and program participants.
• Participate in paid training, ongoing education, and team development opportunities.
