About The Position
The Licensed Optician delivers LensCrafters’ brand value proposition and helps establish the company as the community’s premier destination for vision needs. The role creates value for customers through exceptional service and high-quality, precisely crafted eyewear that exceeds expectations. The position involves fitting and adjusting eyewear, taking and recording measurements, helping customers with product and prescription needs, and using technology and appropriate tools accurately in a fast-paced retail environment. The optician also contributes to store standards, team results, and customer satisfaction while following company policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- State licensure.
- Optical dispensing experience.
- Strong customer service skills, including communication, listening, and team-building.
- Knowledge of current store merchandise.
- Strong basic math skills.
- Awareness of current fashion trends.
- Selling skills and ability to use and carry an iPad or tablet.
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems, computers, and calculators.
- Willingness to embrace new technology and change.
Nice To Haves
- Previous customer service experience.
- Previous retail experience.
Responsibilities
- Welcome customers and set expectations for their experience.
- Custom-fit glasses and precisely place prescriptions in lenses.
- Serve as a leader in optical knowledge and assist the team with complex product needs and prescriptions.
- Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear accurately, and ensure finished eyewear meets standards and customer needs.
- Use technology and appropriate tools accurately despite time pressure and customer volume, maintaining strong product knowledge.
- Identify root causes of issues, take a solution-driven approach, and ensure customer expectations are exceeded.
- Multi-task, prioritize, and manage competing priorities.
- Strive to achieve brand key performance indicators and competencies.
- Help keep the store clean, attractive, and organized.
- Inform management of safety opportunities and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Pursue continual learning and improvement, and focus on results.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including those related to discounts, promotions, and inventory management.
