About The Position

TransPerfect is expanding its database of freelance linguists who translate from English into Simplified Chinese (Singapore) for legal and insurance content. Under the guidance of a manager and in collaboration with Project Managers, the translator will translate and proofread documents for clients in the Insurance and Legal sectors. The work can be performed remotely from anywhere in the world.

Applicants must sign a confidentiality agreement, complete translation and proofreading tests, and undergo a background check. Applicants should submit a recent CV detailing relevant translation and proofreading experience, along with their proposed translation rate per word and proofreading hourly rate in USD. Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Simplified Chinese (Singapore).
• Specialization in Legal or Insurance.
• Acute attention to detail, spelling, and grammar.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations, especially under tight deadlines.
• Meet at least one of the following: a degree in Translation, Linguistics, or Language Studies (or an equivalent degree including significant translation training) from a recognized higher-education institution; two years of translation experience and a college degree; five years of translation experience and no college degree; or a certificate of competence in translation awarded by an appropriate government body.
• Sign a confidentiality agreement, complete translation and proofreading tests, and undergo a background check.
• Submit a recent CV that includes relevant translation and proofreading experience and proposed rates in USD.

Responsibilities

• Translate documents from English into Simplified Chinese (Singapore) for legal and insurance clients.
• Proofread translated documents.
• Create and finalize translation deliverables before they are sent to the client.
