About The Position

The Lead Switchboard Operator is a communications professional responsible and accountable to the Telecommunications Manager, Administrator of IT, and CIO of Garnet Health. The role handles incoming and outgoing calls and hospital emergencies and uses communications and specialized equipment, including switchboards, TTY equipment, Vocera, and Connexall. The operator must remain at the post until relief arrives. The role is based at Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill and is performed on-site. The work takes place in a clean, well-lit, heated or ventilated facility, in close working quarters. The position requires holidays and weekends, and the employee may be assigned other shifts as needed. Compensation is listed as $20.74–$21.30 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma.
One year of experience preferred.
Ability to meet the physical and functional demands of the role, including full anatomical range of motion, visual and aural acuity, and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment.
Ability to lift 10 pounds.
Ability to work well under pressure, foster collaborative relationships, organize and synthesize information, prioritize tasks, think critically and analytically, adapt, and multitask.
Ability to provide detailed attention to work in an environment with uncontrolled interruptions and demonstrate sensitivity to customer needs and expectations.
Ability to work required holidays and weekends and accept other shifts as needed.
Ability to remain at the post until relief arrives.
