About The Position

Lead a project team of engineers and designers in the design, modification, and analysis of electrical systems for nuclear material processing, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal systems, and commercial nuclear power plants. The role involves challenging assignments in electrical design, investigation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving. It offers a hybrid arrangement combining work from home and office work. The Electrical Engineer serves as the electrical team lead for detailed design coordination, helping ensure projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget, and that systems comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. The role also includes preparing and reviewing calculations, design documentation, reports, studies, and equipment purchase specifications; reviewing others’ work; liaising with clients and vendors; and mentoring less experienced engineers. Employees may use relevant digital tools, including data, automation, and artificial intelligence, while remaining accountable for their work and applying professional judgment and review. Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division provides engineering design and consulting support to contractors operating U.S. Department of Energy sites and national laboratories, including DOE Environmental Management and National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) projects. The work supports facilities, systems, and equipment for treating, storing, and disposing of nuclear waste and safely handling and processing nuclear material.
