About The Position

The Lead Electrical Engineer 2 leads a project team of engineers and designers in designing, modifying, and analyzing electrical systems for nuclear material processing, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal, and commercial nuclear power facilities. The role includes challenging design, investigation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving assignments. It is hybrid, with a mix of work from home and office work. The engineer coordinates detailed electrical design, ensuring projects meet schedule, budget, specifications, codes, and client requirements. The role also involves preparing and reviewing calculations, design documentation, equipment specifications, reports, and studies; reviewing others’ work; liaising with clients and vendors; and mentoring less experienced engineers. The position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain U.S. Government and DOE Q-level clearances.

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program.
  • Must be able and willing to obtain Professional Engineer licensure.
  • At least 12 years of experience designing electrical engineering systems in a project-team environment, ideally in commercial power, DOE, nuclear Navy, or NNSA work, focused on integrated detailed system design for new plants or modifications or replacements for existing plants.
  • Experience selecting equipment and materials, defining control philosophy, and preparing and assembling calculations and specifications.
  • Experience designing electrical systems, including low-voltage distribution systems, transformers, generators, motors, communications systems, equipment selection, and analytical calculations.
  • At least 3 years of experience leading an engineering design team through all phases of project design.
  • Technical knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems used to execute systems design.
  • Experience serving as a firm/client liaison in a support or lead engineering role.
