About The Position

Sargent & Lundy is hiring a Lead Electrical Engineer 2 to lead electrical engineering design work for mission-critical projects involving nuclear material processing, nuclear waste treatment, storage and disposal systems, and commercial nuclear power plants. The role leads a project team of engineers and designers in the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing electrical systems. Work includes challenging assignments involving design, investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of electrical engineering issues. The position has a hybrid arrangement, with work split between home and the office. The engineer coordinates detailed design phases, ensuring projects are completed satisfactorily, on time, and within budget, and that system designs comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements. The position prepares and reviews electrical calculations, documentation, reports, studies, drawings, and equipment specifications, and performs independent reviews of others’ work. It also involves vendor and client coordination, mentoring less experienced engineers, and sharing expertise through Sargent & Lundy’s processes and Communities of Practice. Sargent & Lundy’s Government Services Division supports U.S. Department of Energy sites and national laboratories, including DOE Environmental Management and National Nuclear Security Administration facilities. Its work includes designing facilities, systems, and equipment to treat, store, and dispose of nuclear waste and safely handle and process nuclear material.
