Texas Instruments•Knoxville, TN

About The Position

Texas Instruments is seeking a Layout Designer to develop and prepare multidimensional layouts and detailed drawings of semiconductor devices based on schematics and related geometry supplied by design engineering. The role involves creating and managing integrated circuit (IC) layouts from start to finish using CAD software, including floorplanning, designing, implementing, and verifying analog integrated circuits. The designer supports design engineers in meeting precision, speed, area, reliability, power, and ESD requirements, and works with PE and Packaging engineers to support reliable production capability and prepare data for fab hand-off, documentation, and archiving.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Engineering or a related field of study, or a program certificate in Advanced IC Mask Layout Design.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits, including resistance, capacitance, voltage, and current.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux, Cadence Virtuoso, Assura LVS, and DRC.
  • Familiarity with semiconductor device physics, analog circuits and their layout sensitivities, and the IC production flow.
  • Working knowledge of layout-related matching techniques, parasitics, and routing impedances.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly ramp up on new systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and collaborate effectively with people in different functions.
  • Ability to take initiative and drive for results.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Analog and Digital design teams and the global layout design community.
  • Understand manufacturing rules and implement robust, area-efficient layouts.
  • Write layout specifications, check dimensions, and verify completed artwork.
  • Verify layout compliance with Design Rule Checks (DRCs) and Electrical Rule Checks (ERCs).
  • Participate in layout design reviews.
  • Create design flow automation.
  • Floorplan, design, implement, and verify analog integrated circuits using CAD software.
  • Support design engineers in meeting precision, speed, area, reliability, power, and ESD requirements.
  • Work with PE and Packaging engineers to support reliable production capability and prepare data for fab hand-off, documentation, and archiving.
