About The Position

The Laundry Assistant works directly with residents at Allison House Residential Home, helping create a friendly, supportive environment that respects each resident’s individuality, independence, choices, and preferences for how their rooms and possessions are kept. The role involves laundering residents’ clothes, bedding, and linen to a high standard, putting items away correctly, and cleaning areas throughout the home in line with health and safety and infection-control standards. The employer provides an induction and full training programme.

The position is 14 hours per week as required by the service and may include weekends and bank holidays, for which enhancements apply. It is a fixed, permanent post at Allison House Residential Home in Sandy. Salary is £25,614 per annum pro rata (£13.28 per hour).

Responsibilities

• Launder residents’ clothes, bedding, and linen to a high standard to help prevent infection.
• Put laundered clothes away in the correct residents’ rooms and in the correct places.
• Keep the linen cupboard clean and tidy, and put laundered linen away there.
• Wash laundry in accordance with health and safety standards and infection-control procedures.
• Clean areas throughout the home, including furniture, to a high standard to help prevent infection.
• Meet statutory health and safety standards when cleaning residents’ bedrooms, kitchenettes, and communal areas, including toilets, bathrooms, and sluices.
• Restock products throughout the home, including in residents’ bedrooms, kitchenettes, and communal areas.
• Respect residents’ individuality, preferences, independence, and choices.
