About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at Eldorado Animal Clinic. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The position also includes clinical, laboratory, reception, recordkeeping, prescription, and facility-maintenance duties. The Veterinary Assistant reports to the Practice Manager. The right candidate is friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, attentive to detail, an effective oral and written communicator, and technically skilled.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented demeanor.
Self-motivated team player who is attentive to detail.
Effective oral and written communication skills and strong technical skills.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently able to lift 40 pounds, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Able to use a computer system and a multi-line telephone.
Able to handle dogs on leashes and comfortably restrain animals during medical examinations.
Able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.

Responsibilities

Help clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
