About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at Town & Country Veterinary Hospital. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The Veterinary Assistant also maintains medical records, assists with prescriptions and client communications, supports reception, performs laboratory tests, and helps keep the facility and equipment clean and ready for use. The right candidate is friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, attentive to detail, an effective oral and written communicator, and technically skilled.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented, with a self-motivated team-player approach.
Attentive to detail, effective at oral and written communication, and demonstrates strong technical skills.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently lift 40 pounds and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Able to work on a computer system and a multi-line telephone.
Able to handle dogs on leashes and restrain animals during medical examinations.
Able to work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.

Responsibilities

Ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
