About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at Raintree Pet Resort and Medical Center. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The assistant also performs laboratory tests, maintains medical records and clinical equipment, supports prescription services, and helps with reception and facility upkeep. The position reports to the Practice Manager. The successful candidate is friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, attentive to detail, an effective communicator, and technically capable.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented, with a self-motivated team-player approach.
Attentive to detail, effective in oral and written communication, and strong in technical skills.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently able to lift 40 pounds, stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Able to use a computer system and a multi-line telephone.
Able to handle dogs on leashes and restrain animals during medical examinations.
Comfortable working around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.

Responsibilities

Help clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
