About The Position

Destination Pet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join the team at Eldorado Animal Clinic. The role supports veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care and helps ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable. The successful candidate is friendly, outgoing, people-oriented, self-motivated, detail-oriented, communicates effectively in writing and orally, and has strong technical skills. The position reports to the Practice Manager.

Requirements

At least 1 year of clinic experience as a veterinary assistant.
High school diploma.
Friendly, outgoing, and people-oriented.
Self-motivated team player who is attentive to detail.
Effective oral and written communication skills and strong technical skills.
Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Frequently lift 40 pounds and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
Able to work on a computer system and use a multi-line telephone.
Able to handle dogs on leashes and restrain animals during medical examinations.
Comfortable working around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions.

Responsibilities

Ensure clients and pets feel welcome and comfortable.
Assist veterinarians in providing compassionate nursing care.
Clean, maintain, and prepare surgical instruments and equipment.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Fill prescriptions as directed by a veterinarian and explain prescription directions.
Assist receptionists with check-in and checkout procedures and provide telephone support.
Perform various laboratory tests.
Keep facilities clean and well maintained.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
