Job Coach - IDD Services (Full-Time)
About The Position
Community Options, Inc., a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states, is hiring a Job Coach in Knoxville, Tennessee. The Job Coach uses best practices and technology in a community-based employment setting to supervise and train individuals with developmental disabilities. The role helps individuals acquire the skills needed to perform specific tasks, work routines, and personal life activities that are important to successful employment. The position also includes working hours at various residential locations. Starting pay is $16.00 per hour.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of full-time work experience in employment or a related field.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to analyze a job and break it into manageable components.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in a crisis situation.
- Ability to present ideas and factual data clearly and concisely.
- Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Successful completion of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing checks is a condition of employment.
Responsibilities
- Teach individuals independent job skills and job requirements using job task analysis, job-specific supports, assistive technology, and personal assistance.
- Work side by side with individuals at job sites, analyze job requirements, and break tasks into manageable components that can be taught.
- Build a support network between the individual and community members.
- Communicate the individual's progress to the employer and support people, including family, residential staff, and other professionals.
- Complete all documentation accurately.
- Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
