About The Position

The Janitorial Clerk helps maintain a safe and clean store facility while providing friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. The role includes regular and as-needed cleaning throughout the store, responding to spills and other customer or safety needs, and performing other related duties. Shifts are generally 6–8 hours and may vary within the store’s 24/7 operation. For minors hired, hours and the machines and equipment operated may differ.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to read and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to perform moderate lifting of up to 30 pounds.
Ability to crawl, bend, stoop, climb, balance, reach, walk, push, pull, maneuver in tight quarters, and climb ladders and scaffolding.
Ability to use approved chemicals and solvents.
Ability to work outside in cold, hot, and inclement weather, including rain, snow, and sleet.
Ability to communicate with customers and fellow employees through hearing and speech.
Ability to learn safety and departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
Food Handlers Certification, as required by state laws.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers, maintaining a friendly and enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Clean throughout the store regularly and as needed to maintain a safe environment for customers and employees.
Sweep and mop floors throughout sales areas, backrooms, restrooms, offices, and breakrooms, keeping them spill-free; maintain sweep logs.
Empty trash cans and bins throughout the interior and exterior of the store property.
Maintain office and employee breakroom areas.
Wipe down walls and appliances, including pop and vending machines, ATMs, cases, and rails.
Clean and sanitize restroom floors, fixtures, and appliances.
Clean cases and glass doors throughout the store.
Maintain can-return machines and their area, including wiping down machines and emptying bins.
Dust and vacuum store facilities.
Assist with replacing lamps in light fixtures.
Clean and scrub backrooms.
Cooperate with customers in a kind and courteous manner.
Assist with rounding up and bringing in shopping carts from the parking lot as needed.
Respond quickly to audible pages for spill cleanup, customer service, accidents, and emergencies.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
