About The Position

This role owns the full lifecycle of IT assets at Postman, covering both hardware and software. Responsibilities include tracking every device from procurement to decommission, managing software licenses to eliminate waste, and ensuring audit readiness. The specialist will partner with IT Engineering to build automation around license management, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide leadership with clear visibility into IT assets and spending. This role is crucial for responsible IT spend as Postman scales.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in IT asset management, covering both hardware and software lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with asset management platforms (ServiceNow ITAM, Oomnitza, Snipe-IT, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of software licensing models, including per-seat, concurrent, enterprise agreements, and true-up mechanics.
  • Experience in an Apple-heavy environment (MacBook fleet management, Apple Business Manager).
  • Solid analytical skills; comfortable pulling data, building reports, and making recommendations based on numbers.
  • Detail-oriented without losing sight of the bigger picture.
  • Clear communicator who can work across IT, Finance, and Procurement without creating friction.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Jamf or similar MDM platforms for hardware tracking and compliance.
  • Familiarity with SaaS management platforms (Zylo, Productiv, Torii) for license optimization.
  • Background in IT procurement or vendor management.
  • Experience supporting SOC 2 or similar compliance frameworks from an asset management perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Own and maintain the IT asset inventory, covering hardware (laptops, peripherals, AV equipment) and software (SaaS licenses, desktop apps, enterprise tools).
  • Manage the full hardware lifecycle: procurement, provisioning, tracking, refresh cycles, and secure decommission/disposal.
  • Track software license utilization, flag underused or redundant subscriptions, and drive consolidation recommendations.
  • Partner with IT Engineering to implement and improve asset management tooling and automation.
  • Maintain audit-ready records, ensuring immediate answers to questions about license counts and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain asset management policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support procurement workflows by providing accurate asset data for renewals, true-ups, and new purchases.
  • Generate regular reports on asset utilization, cost trends, and optimization opportunities for IT leadership.
