IT Operations Engineer

Nourish•San Francisco, NY

About The Position

Nourish is hiring an IT Operations Engineer to own day-to-day IT operations across its device fleet, identity stack, and SaaS ecosystem. The role reports to the Head of IT and works closely with Engineering, the People Team, and other cross-functional partners. As the second member of the IT team, this hire will take ownership of an established IT foundation and improve and scale it as the company grows from 350 to more than 800 employees. The role is full-time and open to candidates in New York City, San Francisco, or remotely. Candidates near the NYC or SF offices may occasionally need to work in person. The position includes primary responsibility for IT support, employee and contractor lifecycle processes, device management, identity and SaaS administration, automation, office support, documentation, and assigned compliance controls.

Requirements

  • 3–6 years of IT operations or systems administration experience, including experience as one of the first IT hires at a high-growth startup.
  • Hands-on production administration of Okta, including SSO and SCIM app integrations, group rules, and HRIS-driven lifecycle management.
  • Administration experience with at least one MDM platform: Iru/Kandji, Jamf, or Intune.
  • Experience handling a high-volume support queue on a small IT team while also delivering improvements.
  • An inclination to automate manual processes rather than only document them.
  • Ability to own problems end-to-end, from initial request through root cause, resolution, and follow-up.
  • Ability to work through ambiguity and missing processes and take initiative to improve or establish processes.
  • Comfort supporting people remotely and in person.
  • Clear written communication and ability to explain technical context to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail for compliance and audit work, with the pragmatism to prioritize when demands compete.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI help desk or IT automation platforms.
  • Endpoint security experience; CrowdStrike is preferred.
  • Networking or office IT fundamentals, including UniFi, Meraki, or conference room AV.
  • Prior experience at a HIPAA-regulated or healthcare company.

Responsibilities

  • Own IT support by triaging, resolving, and closing requests promptly, and reduce repeat requests through automation or process improvements.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding end-to-end for employees and contractors.
  • Manage the device lifecycle, including procurement and logistics with the hardware partner, and enrollment and MDM in Iru for Mac and Intune for Windows.
  • Administer Okta, including SSO, SCIM, and group rules; Google Workspace; Slack; and the broader SaaS stack.
  • Build automations using Okta Workflows and IT automation and AI help desk tools to reduce manual work for access requests and lifecycle events.
  • Keep identity data clean in partnership with People Ops, including maintaining ADP attributes that drive downstream access.
  • Support the NYC and SF offices, including networking with UniFi and conference rooms.
  • Write documentation and knowledge-base articles to enable self-service.
  • Support assigned SOC 2 and HITRUST controls and periodic access reviews.
