About The Position

This is a new position for a Regular Part-Time Professor to teach Introduction to Psychology: Foundations (PSY1501 Section E00) during the Winter 2027 semester at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Social Sciences, School of Psychology. The course covers the object and method of psychology, historical perspective, nervous system, consciousness, sensory processes, perception, cognition, memory, language, thought, emotions, motivation, learning. The course is offered in-person and will be taught in French. The expected enrollment is 350 students, and it is a 3-credit course.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the different fields of Psychology
  • Competence in a second language: Passive
  • Employees are required under provincial law to successfully complete all mandatory legislated training.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Introduction to Psychology: Foundations (PSY1501 Section E00).
  • Maintain the originally assigned mode of course delivery (in-person or virtual).
  • Inform the School of Psychology Secretariat promptly if a class needs to be cancelled.
  • Arrange a suitable replacement instructor in advance of an upcoming absence.
