About The Position

Specialty Medical Staffing is hiring an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy for an acute care hospital in Asheboro, North Carolina. The role provides leadership for clinical and operational pharmacy services, including financial management, regulatory compliance, staff development, and daily inpatient pharmacy operations. The director serves as Pharmacist-in-Charge and supports safe, effective pharmacy services in collaboration with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams.

This is a temporary assignment lasting at least three months, with possible extension depending on facility needs. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM; weekend staffing is not routinely required. The stated start date is November 10, 2026.

Requirements

• Active North Carolina pharmacist license.
• PharmD or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
• Previous hospital pharmacy leadership or Director of Pharmacy experience.
• Strong clinical, operational, financial, and regulatory knowledge.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Meditech and Pyxis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily inpatient pharmacy operations within a 24/7 pharmacy department.
• Serve as Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
• Provide clinical and financial leadership for pharmacy services.
• Manage pharmacy staff, department workflows, and operational performance.
• Support staff development, training, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain regulatory readiness, including preparation for Joint Commission surveys.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, effective pharmacy services.
