About The Position

The Director of Nursing Acute Care oversees nursing practices and clinical services at Baylor Scott & White Health facilities, using clinical expertise in patient care environments. The role develops and implements clinical protocols and nursing policies, negotiates resources between departments, and facilitates communication to support seamless patient care delivery. The director is accountable for nursing services in a designated area and works with nursing, medical staff, operational directors, and other departments to promote safe, high-quality care and patient satisfaction.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree.
Three years of experience.
Registered Nurse (RN) certification/license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitate (CPR) certification.
Demonstrable problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in a supervisory role is highly favorable.

Responsibilities

Steer nursing services within the designated area of work.
Monitor productivity daily and make adjustments to meet productivity standards.
Develop, track, and report annual quality improvement priorities for each unit.
Investigate incidents, analyze data and findings, and identify areas for improvement.
Build partnerships with non-nursing departments to improve patient care and satisfaction.
Conduct and participate in clinical rounds to identify patient needs and share observations.
Ensure adherence to applicable legal, regulatory, licensing, and accrediting requirements.
Develop and use metrics, dashboards, and tools to monitor service delivery.
Encourage communication within the department.
Partner with nursing, medical staff, and operational directors to support safe patient care.
Develop and implement clinical protocols and nursing policies.
