About The Position

The Intake Worker works in the Emergency Services Department and has direct contact with residents seeking emergency services. The role involves discussing needs, assessing households, reviewing and researching available resources, and coordinating appropriate services and referrals. This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, based in North Providence, Rhode Island.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to operate basic office equipment.
Basic knowledge of computer programs.
Pleasant and friendly approach with clients, the community, and coworkers.
Flexibility.
Demonstrate understanding of people’s experiences and deliver services with recognition and respect for the importance of every moment.

Responsibilities

Greet applicants, including people with appointments and walk-ins.
Respond to and resolve inquiries and schedule appointments.
Implement programs such as LiHEAP, food, housing, and weatherization by taking, completing, and filing applications.
Use office equipment and basic computer programs.
Communicate with vendors, contractors, and program grantors.
Mail confirmation letters to applicants and vendors.
Maintain case notes and relevant spreadsheets.
Develop outreach activities for potential clients in the agency service area.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, Chief Operating Officer, or President/CEO.
