About The Position

The Intake RN performs intake assessments and crisis intervention, and provides patients with information about the hospital’s services. The role provides referrals to community resources for patients who do not meet admission criteria to support continuity of care. The RN also assists with call center functions and other duties supporting the Psych E.D. The position is at El Paso Behavioral Health System, a private 167-bed psychiatric hospital in El Paso, Texas, specializing in mental health and chemical dependency care. The required availability is Monday through Friday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Occasional overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Requirements

A master’s degree in a human relations field or Registered Nurse qualification.
At least two years of experience in a psychiatric hospital setting, including customer contact and crisis intervention.
Licensure to practice in Texas as a mental health professional (LPC, LPC-Intern, LMSW, or LCSW) or as an RN.
Working knowledge of the DSM-V and Mental Status Exam.
Working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field.
Successful completion of Handle With Care Training within 90 days of employment and before assisting with restraining procedures.
Current CPR certification, which must be maintained.

Nice To Haves

Preferably two or more years of experience in intake assessment activities within an acute psychiatric setting.

Responsibilities
