About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for the course PHIL 1F90 Introduction to Philosophy: Philosophical Classics and Contemporary Life. The compensation for a full course is $14,942.17 (390 hours nominally), effective September 1, 2024. Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. Duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, including scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as lecture preparation, student consultation, marking and grading, course administration, grade appeals, and cases of academic dishonesty.

Requirements

  • PhD in Philosophy with demonstrated experience in teaching philosophy
  • Evidence of recent, competent and effective teaching experience in Philosophy at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations)
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication and online teaching technology (e.g., Sakai, MS Teams, MS Streams, etc.) skills
  • Prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of Philosophy
