About The Position
Brock University is seeking an Instructor for PHIL 1F91 (Intro to Philosophy: Human Nature) for the Fall/Winter D1 term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 employee group. The compensation is effective September 1, 2024, with a rate of $7,471.08 per half course (195 hours nominally) or $14,942.17 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab. Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as lecture preparation, student consultation, marking, grading, course administration, grade appeals, and handling cases of academic dishonesty, in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement.
Requirements
- PhD in Philosophy with demonstrated experience in teaching philosophy
- Evidence of recent, competent and effective teaching experience in Philosophy at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations)
- Demonstrated organizational, communication and online teaching technology (e.g., Sakai, MS Teams, MS Streams, etc.) skills
- Prior teaching and/or research experience in the study of Philosophy
