About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for WGST 1F90 Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies for the Fall/Winter term. This position is within the CUPE4207-1 Employee Group. The compensation for the role is effective September 1, 2026, with a rate of $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally) and $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally). Instructors teaching a 2-hour/week lecture, or equivalent, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course. The course may be delivered virtually online and/or face-to-face, and the instructor must be able to deliver material in either format. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Women’s Studies or related area with demonstrated university training in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. course work, dissertation topic)
  • Demonstrable, substantive interdisciplinary training
  • Demonstrated successful university teaching experience (i.e. course instructor, teaching assistant) in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues, demonstrated via course evaluations, letters of reference and/or other components of a teaching dossier
  • Demonstrated research in Women’s Studies and/or Feminist Theory/Methods and/or Feminist Issues (i.e. thesis research, publications, conference presentations, community-based projects/action relevant to the study of women’s lives from sociocultural, political, institutional, theoretical, historical, philosophical and/or literary perspectives)

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration
  • Handling grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty
