About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill an existing vacancy for an Instructor for French III FREN 1F90. This position involves teaching a full course, including lectures and seminars/labs, with a face-to-face mode of delivery. The instructor will be responsible for scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, course administration, and collaboration with the Director of French Studies. The role requires commitment to incorporating web-based pedagogical techniques and responsible time management.

Requirements

  • Graduate Degree (PhD, PhD abd) in an area of French studies
  • Record of sustained successful teaching of second-year language courses in French at a University level
  • Native or near native fluency in English and French
  • Commitment to and competence in the use of Standard International French
  • Evidence of teaching competence in second-year language courses in French at University level
  • Official student and peer evaluations
  • Teaching dossier

  • Ability to work alone without immediate direct supervision
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Clear comprehension of multi-section teaching
  • Active participation in curriculum development

Responsibilities

Benefits

  • Compensation effective September 1, 2026 - $7,887.59 per half course (195 hours nominally)
  • Compensation effective September 1, 2026 - $15,775.20 per full course (390 hours nominally)
