About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for VISA 4P03 Advanced Painting for the Fall Term Duration 2 (D2). This course will cover contemporary painting strategies and their dominant critiques, including readings in contemporary practice. The delivery method is face-to-face, with lectures and studio work, scheduled for Thursdays from 13:30 to 17:30. The compensation is based on a half or full course rate, effective September 1, 2026. Instructors are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course if the course involves a 2-hour/week lecture or equivalent. Duties include scheduled contact time with students, preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching a range of techniques, processes, and concepts in painting and the ability to extend the discourse of painting through approaches relevant to contemporary practice is required.
  • Record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on painting demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
  • All qualifications must be met.
  • All applicable documentation pertaining to any applications must be submitted at the same time with the application.
