About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) VISA 2P95 Introduction to Animation. This course provides an introduction to the principles and concepts of animation, covering creative and basic technical knowledge of the tools and techniques essential to the development and production of animation, including historical and contemporary approaches. It also delves into the critical history of animation within visual art, its historical and political developments, and practitioners. The course involves lectures and lab sessions, meeting for 4 hours per week.

Requirements

  • MFA is required
  • Previous teaching experience in an animation studio class of at least two years at the university level is required
  • Experience using animation in a visual arts practice is required (studio-based visual artist, not commercial animator)
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Dragon Frame and video editing software is required
  • Knowledge of the history of animation in a visual arts context is required
  • Critical knowledge required of contemporary practices in visual arts cultural production; major historical trajectories in 20th Century visual art; major practitioners in 20th Century visual art is required
  • A record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on animation demonstrative of standing in the art community is required
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required
