About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for VISA 2P99 Introduction to Sound Design in Contemporary Art. The course covers approaches to the conceptualization and production of sound recording, notation, field-recording, Foley arts, soundtrack production, experimental music and performance, and contemporary sound art. The role involves lectures and lab sessions, totaling 4 hours per week, within the Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art. The delivery method is face-to-face, with the schedule for the Fall Term (Duration 2) Section 1 being Thursday from 18:00 to 22:00.

Requirements

MFA is required.
Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
A teaching history that includes Sound Art as the primary focus of a curriculum is required.
A thorough understanding of the history and applications of Sound Design, Sound Art, Sound Cognition, Locative Practices, Audio Hardware and Foley Art is required.
Proficiency in Digital Audio Workstation and video editing software is required.
A record of professional activity in contemporary art sound design and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.
Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level (in the area to be taught e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
