About The Position

Brock University is seeking to fill three existing vacancies for VISA 2P03 Painting Fundamentals. This course is an introduction to colour theory, media, and methods in painting, involving lectures and studio work for 4 hours per week. The positions are for the Fall Term Duration 2 (D2) and will be delivered face-to-face. Specific schedules are: Section 1: Monday 1330 – 1730, Section 2: Wednesday 0900 – 1300, and Section 3: Friday 1330 – 1730. Instructors are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
  • Demonstrated background in the practical and theoretical aspects of painting including colour theory, the history and techniques of acrylics is required.
  • Familiarity of all technical aspects of canvas stretching, basic hand tools, studio safety and woodshop protocols involving the operation of a table and compound saw is required.
  • Record of professional activity and exhibitions in the area of painting, demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
  • All qualifications must be met.
  • All applicable documentation pertaining to any applications must be submitted at the same time with the application.
