About The Position

Brock University is seeking an Instructor for VISA 2P27 Introduction to Digital Photography Principles. This course covers principles in digital imaging, including digital cameras and image capture, digital negatives, color management, image adjustment and enhancement, and image output. It also includes the history of photography, imaging, and critical analysis of visual culture. The role involves lectures and studio work, with 4 hours of contact time per week. The position is in the Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art and will be delivered face-to-face during the Winter term (Duration 3), Section 1, on Mondays from 13:30 to 17:30.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous university teaching experience in digital photography of at least two years is required.
  • Extensive experience with digital cameras, digital production equipment, lighting equipment, and digital printing processes is required.
  • Extensive experience in printing digital photographs and understanding of digital printing equipment and maintenance of the equipment is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of Photoshop/Lightroom software is required.
  • A record of professional activity with concentrated focus on photography and exhibitions demonstrative of standing in the art community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
