About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy for the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) VISA 3P03 Intermediate Painting course. The course focuses on painting techniques emphasizing compositional, formal, and graphic elements. It involves lectures and studio work, with 4 hours of contact time per week. The Department is the Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art, and the Delivery Method is face-to-face. The schedule is for the Winter Term, Duration 3 (D3), Section 1: Wednesday 0900 – 1300.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
  • Demonstrated background in teaching the practical and theoretical aspects of painting, including color theory and the history and techniques of acrylics and oils is required.
  • Familiarity with all technical aspects of canvas stretching, basic hand tools, studio safety and woodshop protocols involving the operation of a table and compound saw is required.
  • Record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on painting demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.
  • All applicable documentation pertaining to any applications must be submitted at the same time with the application.
