About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for VISA 4P04 Contemporary Painting. The course involves the creation of a body of paintings that reflect the inter-relationships among critical strategies, personal mythologies, process and meaning. The role includes lectures and studio work, with 4 hours of contact time per week. The department is the Department of Visual Arts – Studio Art, and the delivery method is face-to-face. The schedule is for the Winter term (D3), Section 1, on Thursdays from 1800 to 2200.

Requirements

  • MFA is required.
  • Previous teaching experience of at least two years at the university level is required.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching a range of techniques, processes, and concepts in painting and the ability to extend the discourse of painting through approaches relevant to contemporary practice is required.
  • Record of professional activity and exhibitions with a focus on painting demonstrative of standing in the arts community is required.
  • Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience at the undergraduate university level in the area to be taught (e.g. course evaluations, letters of reference, and/or other components of teaching dossier) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduled contact time with students
  • Non-classroom time including preparation of lectures, student consultation, marking and grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and cases of academic dishonesty.
